The range of services at Thermo Fisher for drug substances and drug products is wider than that of any other CDMO and we offer end-to-end capabilities and expertise to take your discovery from pre-clinical and clinical development, through scale-up, all the way to commercial supply across more than 40 oral solid, sterile and softgel dosage forms.

The Technical Sales Support Specialist, Oral Solid Dose, develops and manages the business relationship with clients through understanding the client’s organization and business needs, in order to solve Client technical challenges in timely manner. The incumbent sits on the site leadership team and works in close cooperation with peer department leaders to plan for new projects. They partner closely with Sales and Business Development Services (BDS) teams to introduce new Clients and projects to the site.

The job holder reports to the Senior Director of Operations, Milton Park, UK

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the internal Client advocate at the Milton Park site, balancing and driving both the client’s and Thermo Fisher's requirements and priorities concerning new business opportunities.
  • Acts as subject matter expert for Milton Park’s Early Development services for Oral solid dose forms at Sales calls and Client visits. Teams with Sales to mine new and grow existing accounts, attracting new business to Milton Park and partner sites.
  • Partners with Sales & Business Development Services (BDS) to identify and technically scope out new business opportunities to prospective & existing clients.
  • Supports negotiation of client proposals through provision of technical oversight, ensuring the proposal meets Client expectations for scope and timelines.
  • Facilitates effective communication of new project requirements, organizes and manages customer site visits, and promotes Thermo Fisher and site capabilities. Presents development services proposals to customers. Collaborate with other ThermoFisher sites as needed
  • Ensures that expected service levels are being provided and that required planning and technical information is being exchanged appropriately between organizations, through the coordination of information flow, with regard to client’s requirements.
  • Ensures all projects achieve appropriate profit margins, through the request, analysis and recommendation of existing and new project pricing and proposal strategies for new projects
  • Ensures resolution of significant issues with the client through coordination and collaboration of internal functional resources to identify, propose and carry out an efficient plan to settle the issue, while protecting Patheon interests and image.
  • Leverages relationship with existing customers & site Project Management team to identify & support new opportunities and project expansions.

EH&S:

  • Understand emergency procedures and comply with safe systems of work.
  • Ensure compliance with environment, health and safety rules, signage and instructions at all times.
  • Ensure prompt reporting and investigation of all accidents, near misses and breaches of rules.

Communication:

  • To effectively communicate at all levels, internally and externally, adopting a professional approach.
  • To promote the PDS business capabilities both internally and externally.
  • To feedback key issues for discussion and resolution, suggesting possible improvements conducive to the smooth and efficient running of the site and welfare of personnel based at the facility.
  • By example, promote a positive, professional and pro-active culture within the function.

 

Complexity:

The job holder is required to work in consideration of the business and operational needs of the Company, seeking and implementing new approaches to support the Companies position as a leader in its field. As an ambassador for the Company, it is essential to present a professional approach as well as excellent inter-personal skills. Liaising with internal and external parties, there is a requirement for tact and discretion.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Degree or higher degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry or related discipline.
  • Solid experience in pharmaceutical industry, preferably in early stage drug product development for oral solid dose forms.
  • Tactful / skilled communicator, with ability to communicate clearly with clients and influence decision making processes.
  • Self-motivated, takes initiative to drive improvements and holds self and others accountable.
  • Proven ability to lead & manage teams in a complex work environment.
  • Preference for experience in manufacture of IMPs.
